For any traveller with a passion for history, art, and culture, the Camino de Santiago is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable journeys in the world. Since the 10th century, pilgrims have travelled—on foot and now by bicycle—to experience the magic and mystery of this legendary route.

Cyclists can choose between a paved or off-road trail as the Camino weaves its way across northern Spain. The landscapes are awe-inspiring, and the path is dotted with historical landmarks, cultural treasures, and welcoming villages.

If you have the time, we highly recommend our Expedition Route—a truly transformative experience. For those seeking a shorter option, our Escape Route beginning in León offers a more compact yet equally rewarding adventure.

Whichever journey you choose, you’ll enjoy carefully selected accommodation—from traditional inns to luxurious paradors—ensuring comfort, authenticity, and a true taste of Spanish hospitality.

Leaving Pamplona, we’ll cycle towards the majestic foothills of the Sierra del Perdon. Our route takes us through Puente la Reina, home to its famous Romanesque bridge and a delightful town square. Our day concludes in Estella, where we’ll stay near the stunning 12th-century Palace of the Kings of Navarre.

Today’s highlight? A visit to the renowned Bodega Irache, where you can enjoy a complimentary taste from their unique wine fountain – a true pilgrim’s welcome! This vibrant city boasts rich history, architectural marvels, lively cafés, and captivating music. Your hotel is a beautifully renovated historical building, offering modern comforts.

  • Distance: 49 km | Elevation Gain: 750 m

Our destination today is a town deeply intertwined with the pilgrimage. Santo Domingo de la Calzada is named after a hermit who dedicated his life to aiding pilgrims, constructing a bridge, hospital, and much of the medieval road we’ll cycle on! We’ll also enjoy a memorable stay at the extraordinary Parador Santo Domingo de la Calzada Hotel, recognised as one of Spain’s finest.

  • Distance: 50 km | Elevation Gain: 730 m

Today’s ride offers superb scenery as we traverse rolling trails adorned with bell heather. We’ll enjoy lunch in San Juan de Ortega before continuing our journey, counting stork nests perched on bell towers along the route. Upon arrival in Burgos, prepare to be awestruck by its magnificent Gothic Cathedral, a true masterpiece of Spanish art. After dinner, those seeking a lively evening can explore the city’s abundant tapas bars and clubs.

We’ll arrange a walking tour, concluding with a visit to a local wine bodega. Your hotel, located in the historical district, is just steps away from León’s best shopping and restaurants.

In Ponferrada, you can explore the impressive Templar Castle, a superb example of Spanish military architecture. We’ll finish the day in Villafranca, one of the Camino’s most attractive towns, where we’ll stay in a charming 3-star Parador hotel.

From Villafranca, we’ll climb through unspoilt Galician countryside, vibrant with heather, broom, pines, chestnuts, and oaks. In Samos, we’ll visit its monastery before continuing to Sarria, home to the Monastery of La Magdalena and its welcoming Mercedarian monks.

  • Distance: 70 km | Elevation Gain: 1,500 m

Leaving Sarria, the terrain changes again, as we enter a truly rural part of Spain where ancient traditions endure. We’ll have lunch in Portomarín, and then enjoy some of the best cycling of the Camino on rolling terrain through Leboreiro to Melide, an area particularly rich in pre-Roman history. Our day concludes at a charming inn with an outdoor swimming pool – perfect for relaxing!

  • Distance: 71 km | Elevation Gain: 1,200 m

This is our shortest day – we will pass many small hamlets hidden among eucalyptus trees before reaching the environs of Santiago. Your adrenaline will surge as you make your way through Santiago itself, packed with vestiges of the pilgrimage. Nothing, however, quite prepares you for the moment you arrive at the magnificent Cathedral, where you can share in the profound sense of accomplishment felt by pilgrims since time immemorial. We’ll stay at one of the finest hotels in the city, located just 200 metres from the Cathedral – truly the perfect celebratory stay. Enjoy!

  • Distance: 46 km | Elevation Gain: 740 m
