This is a special journey through an extraordinary region—one rarely explored and utterly unforgettable. Welcome to Haute Provence, nestled in the pre-Alps, where the essence of Provence shines through in the lavender fields, rugged landscapes, and sun-drenched stone villages. Ride quiet country roads over low mountain passes, descend alongside wild streams, and discover hamlets that time forgot. And because this is France, even in the remotest corners you’ll find warm inns and exceptional cuisine. It’s cycling at its finest, far from the crowds. We first discovered the Dordogne in the early 1980s, drawn by its quiet country roads perfect for cycling, breathtaking scenery, and castles tucked behind every bend. Decades later, the region has only grown in charm—with exceptional hotels, gourmet restaurants, and cultural treasures that make it one of the most enchanting destinations in France. From prehistoric cave art to medieval villages and dramatic cliffside fortresses, the Dordogne offers an experience like no other.
